As a triathlon coach, I’m always looking for ways to improve the athlete experience—whether you’re chasing your first finish line or working towards a breakthrough performance at long course distance. At GPC Ballarat, we take pride in building a supportive, high-performance environment where athletes can thrive.

That’s why we don’t try to do it all alone.
We work with specialist coaches—trusted experts in their discipline—because it delivers better outcomes for our athletes.

The Power of a New Voice

You’ve likely had this moment in training: your coach says something you’ve heard before, but it clicks differently when another expert says it in a new way.

That’s not a coincidence, it’s the power of fresh perspective.

Bringing in external coaches, like we did with Swim Ace prior to the Cairns Ironman this year for pre-race swim coaching, gives our athletes the chance to hear familiar cues through a new lens. Often, it’s just the shift in phrasing, energy, or delivery that sparks a breakthrough in confidence or technique.

Why We Partnered with SwimAce Before Race Day

Josh at SwimAce brings a wealth of experience in open water and race-prep swimming. He’s a former GPC Athlete, so he has a good understanding of our ethos and approach to coaching. When our athletes worked with him in the lead-up to race day, they got focused attention on:

  • Refined technique
  • Navigating pack swimming and starts
  • Realistic pacing strategies
  • Confidence under pressure

It’s not about replacing the work we’ve done, it’s about building on it, reinforcing it, and dialling things in before the big day.

Long-Term Gains from Short-Term Sessions

These aren’t one-off, feel-good sessions that end when the towel hits the floor.

The value lives on. Athletes take away actionable feedback, specific skills to work on, and a boost in mindset that carries through to the race and beyond.

At GPC, we build athletes for the long haul. We’re not just preparing you for your next event; we’re investing in your development across seasons and distances.

It Takes a Team to Build a Triathlete

Great coaching doesn’t come from a single source. It comes from a network of expertise, trust, and shared values. That’s why we choose to collaborate with coaches like Swim Ace—because they help us deliver a more complete coaching experience for you.

If you’re looking to train smarter, gain confidence, and race with purpose, know that you’re in the hands of a squad that brings in the best—so you can be your best.
