Day 7: One Last Push
Day 7 marked our last full day on camp, and the squad finished exactly how they started; by leaning into the challenge.
Some athletes were up early and drove to Harrietville to take on the iconic Mt Hotham ascent, ticking off another classic alpine climb. With hot conditions forecast, others made smart choices, opting for a long MTB ride or a road ride to Trapyard Gap, staying higher on the mountain where temperatures were a little more forgiving.
In the middle of the day, it was back into the water for an open water swim, with athletes practicing race starts and short efforts, sharpening skills that will pay off when the race season arrives.
The day was rounded out with a 30–90 minute trail run, and for those who chose the longer end of that range, there was a final twist—being caught in the only rain we saw all week. A fitting alpine send-off after seven big days.
Awards – Day 7
Pink Hanky: Darren. The general consensus is that it WAS NOT a snake Daz!
Hard Rock: Paula for the second time, officially making her the overall Hard Rock award recipient for the camp—a well-deserved honour after a massive week of consistent work

Post Script / Day 8: One Last Session, One Last Coffee
The final morning of camp saw the squad split one last time. Some athletes were on the road early, facing long drives home, while others managed to squeeze in one final trail run at Langford, making the most of the legs and the location before leaving the mountains behind.
Once off the mountain, the group reunited at the Mt Beauty Swimming Pool for the final coached session of the camp. Just like earlier in the week, it was a focused session of swim analysis and filming, giving athletes clear takeaways to carry forward into their training beyond camp.
We capped it all off the best way possible—brunch at the bakery—before heading out of the valley and back to normal life.

It really was a fantastic camp, made special by a group of brilliant, committed, and supportive people. From both coaches, thank you to everyone who showed up, trusted the process, and contributed to such a positive week.
Looking ahead:
-
Our next camp will be held mid-year in Lorne
